Great weekend at the Safland 7's

Oh man, it went down at the Safland sevens and Radiowave was right there in the thick of the action. We had Cornal Hendricks playing for the SA select side who lost out to eventual winners and tournament favorites, Kenya. If you don’t know who Cornal is, he is a former South African rugby union player. His usual position is wing and played various positions at the Safland sevens. This guy is hot stuff, he played for the SA sevens, Boland Cavaliers and signed for Cheeters and WP in 2016, where he was forced to retire from competitive rugby because he had a heart condition, so the bigger clubs just would not sign him.

Nonetheless he was on form and some say he’s lost his pace a bit, either way it was great to see him. Also at the tournament was Mpho Mbiyozo, former Cheeters player and winner of the HSBC World 7’s series championship and Kenny Tsimba, the world rugby hall of famer who played for Bath rugby and the Cheeters.

So a star studded affair this weekend including the Namibia national 7's team who were taught a lesson of humility by Namibia’s Tisan team. They lost to Tisan in the tournaments biggest upset.  Never under estimate the other guy. Well done Kenya!!
