How to get free dessert next time you eat out

I'll be the first to admit that I love free stuff.

I know I'm not alone though - everyone loves getting something for free!

That’s why, as kids, we all lied when going to Spur and said it was our birthday just to get free ice cream.

The question is - how far would you go to get free stuff?

Would you be willing to get married?  Or at least pretend to be getting married?

Two friends from the United States didn't even have to think twice - that's exactly what they did.

See this one girl and her friend in the US were having a really rough week, so they decided to get out of town for the weekend.

The girl being an actress and all thought it would be fun if they could just ‘be other people’ for that time.  They could pretend to be newlyweds or something.

That's when her friend decided to take it up a notch and suggest that he instead propose to her at dinner...and BOOM the idea was born.

They got a fake ring, figured out their love story and were ready to go.

That night they enjoyed their meal, and once they were ready for dessert the guy friend went to the waitress.  He told her that he’s going to propose to his girlfriend and wanted it on video.

Once all of that was set, he got down on one knee and proposed.

She said yes and the rest of the restaurant cheered before the waitress brought them a congratulatory dessert - some crème brulee, chocolate mousse and a slice of cake.

Afterwards they shared their story on twitter and quickly it spread with people applauding them for their creativity, and some wondering why no one’s thought of it before.

That’s definitely one way to go about it.

I’ll be honest though. I like free stuff – but this is just way too much effort to put into a free dessert.  I'd rather just pay it and stuff my face.

What do you think?

Would you fake a proposal for some free dessert?
