Christine Mostert

Interviewer:  ‘So, how did you get into radio?’

CM:  ‘The big epiphany came while I was watering the herbs on my kitchen window sill, wearing cow-print pyjamas that still had a piece of last week’s chilli pasta dinner stuck to the left leg of the pants.  I had to embrace the moment, take the big step, throw caution to the wind.  People had told me to do it so many times…so, so many times.  But up to this point I was always too…sceptical?  Scared?  Unsure?  I guess it was a little bit of both.  (Yes, I know I said both but there are three.  Make your own pick.)  But despite all my doubts, I just knew deep  inside my soul that it was now or never.  This was the opportunity – the MOMENT – of a lifetime, and if I didn’t grab it now I would regret it forever.  Never again would I have exactly everything I need to do this.  I would be stuck in a rut for the rest of my life, never to be excited or admired for my leap of faith.

And that is how I came to eat ice cream on bread.  Still haven’t regretted it.  Tastes a bit like yeast-flavoured milkshake.  What was the question again?’

  • A Chronically Insecure NUNW Must Change its Tone and Body Language
LIKE many things in our country, the labour movement is chronically insecure. It is insecure because it does not have an independent identity. It is insecure because Union leadership became a class platform for material gain and not necessarily the interests of workers.
  • Local Gypsum Suppliers for Cement Factory
A LOCAL mining company will supply gypsum, which is mined in the Erongo Region, to the Ohorongo cement plant outside Otavi, and a delivery agreement has been signed already.
