Kelly Thompson

There are many things in life that we love and in my life I do love music, food and Steri Stumpies (the chocolate and strawberry flavoured ones). But if you ever drink a Steri Stumpie in front of me, please be sure not to slurp it because then I will make sure you down it faster than the speed of light!

Sometimes at parties or at functions we have been asked the strangest of questions but when asked once what my special talent is, you would expect an answer like ‘baking’ or ‘singing’ or something simple but when it comes to my special talent, it is anything but simple, I can bend my big toe ALL the way back. It’s really is a cool party trick.

One of the worst jobs I’ve ever had in my life is waitressing. Many moons ago in a little town in the Eastern Cape, I was desperate for work and decided to do waitressing. Needless to say I wasn’t that desperate and ended up working for one day, if even that long.

On days off from the radio station, although one can’t say that we have a day off because in this industry, your work starts as soon as you switch music on! That aside, I love to sit and eat a whole massive bowl of popcorn by myself and NOT offering to share it with anyone while watching ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ for the millionth time or ‘Black Swan’ or even ‘Top Gun’.

Many know that I’m an avid supporter of Namibian and South Africa music that I have become actively involved in promoting the musos. Always doing as much as possible behind the scenes to help those talents become recognised. Besides that, I’m involved in a variety of events and other projects. In the evening, my kindle and I become great friends.

Many people I speak to wonder what is in the mix when it comes to music in my collection and lately I still listen to the The Graeme Watkins Project ‘Corridors of the Mind’. Oddly enough, I never knew who The Graeme Watkins Project were until a friend on twitter (@willis_w) kept on harassing me about their song ‘Music Affair’. So finally, I gave it a listen, fell in love with the song and the band and the rest, as they say is history. Move over Parlotones….and thank you @willis_w for changing my life (for the better).
